I recently discovered a problem where my iMac will not shutdown, logoff or restart when I am logged in but will on the log in screen. I have repaired disk permissions as well as repaired the disk using disk utility but there has been no improvement. When I click the log out button, all the icons and dock disappear but then the computer freezes. I can still move the mouse around but nothing I do will log it off.
