Applications in another partition.

Hello, first of all, I apologize for my English
I'm new to the Mac OS X operating system, migrated from Windows and I'm a cruel doubts.
I created 3 partitions on my 1TB HD, 1 for system, 1 for applications and 1 for file backup. My doubt is, when I install an application rather than drag it to the Applications folder I can drag the partition you created for applications? I'll win something in this performance, as it was in Windows, or should I leave applications in the Applications folder?
I thank you all!

Always keep applications in the Application  folder.
Application folder is the default folder designated by the System for Applications.
Moving applications from Application folder will have serious consequences.
Best.
